FACE Maui is a faith based organization of churches, temples, labor unions and social service agencies. We are dedicated to advocating for the common good on Maui as expressed by the values and ideals of our members.
For too long our island has been divided on the issue of growth and sprawl. Enacting a detailed map for where development is and is not appropriate is what is needed on our island today. The process Keahu and Stan describe took three years to complete and involved over 2,000 Maui residents.
The maps the GPAPC group produced provide for plenty of room for growth on Maui – for affordable housing, and for new commerical development but they also create limits to that growth. Uncontrolled growth is not good for anyone as it undermines the strongest asset Maui possesses – its beauty and small town identity.
We are asking everyone to take a few minutes to email the county council, and the Mayor asking them to enact strong growth boundaries to prevent sprawl. (Click on the email addresses)
